This-and-That

Tuesday, 27th of May, 2014

I love rain. And these past couple days have been nothin' but rain on and off. Sometimes a drizzle, most of the time light rain, and sometimes heavy rain. But about an hour ago, it was amazing. I was raining and sunny at the same time! I love it when that happens! I think that might be my favorite weather. Rainy and sunny at the same time... :D
Also, I think I may have killed a bird today... That or I just ran over its corpse in a parking lot... poor thing...
Do siblings HAVE to fight so much? Is it like unwritten law or some obligation for siblings to always get on each others' last nerves?! I am one of four. My big brother and I get along just fine. But my sisters and I are like Tom and Jerry and the dog.
Yep... JUST like that... Well actually, those two get along GREAT, like me and my brother. So it's more like this:
Yeah. That more accurately depicts it. My sisters both against me. But we don't really get physical. My little sister and I might a little bit, but that's rare. My older sister and younger sister go more for the mental fighting. They LOVE trying to make me mad, and most of the time, they succeed. That part's my fault, I know. I should just ignore them. And then a lot of the time, they seem to TRY to get me in trouble, or make me feel stupid, or any of a million other little things they do JUST BECAUSE. (They relish the sight of me fuming and angry.) Anyways, I won't cram 20 years of fighting into here. Just the question, Why do siblings fight so much? We're family. Isn't it supposed to be more like us against the world? But instead, it feels like me against my sisters and the world... Oh well, I'll survive. But I really gotta learn to ignore them haha
Ah! I have a new favorite sandwich place. Firehouse Subs. Founded by firemen in... um... 1964 or 1984 or 1994. My brain only remembers the first two numbers and the last number. Not the second to the last number. Anyways, it's better than Quiznos or Subway, in my opinion. It doesn't have that weird stink like Subway. Kids can get these cute firefighter hats whether they get a sandwich or not. The tables have dalmatian print on them, and they sell pickle buckets (just the buckets that their pickles come in, not a bucket full of pickles) and sauces to support local firemen. They make pretty good cookies and brownies (A little too on the sweet side for my taste), and they have AWESOME sandwiches. (I really need to add to my vocabulary list of positive adjectives...) They have more meat choices than Subway, if I remember correctly, but not as many vegetable choices as most sandwich places. The place smells awesome, 'cause they steam the meats and toast the bread, however, you can order for the meat and/or bread to be left cold. My mouth is literally watering just thinking of this place... And they have chili and soups and salads and really friendly service, and one of those Coca-Cola Freestyle coke machines! :D (They're cool, but I think those machines hate me...) They also have a Hearty and Fit menu for those watching their portion and calorie intakes. And did I mention that they have dalmatian print tables? X) Here's a website if you wanna try 'em out: http://www.firehousesubs.com/ Go try something new, why don't ya?
Ok, that made me really hungry, so if you'll excuse me, I'm off to feed my belly. Take care, God bless and all that good stuff! :D

P.S. Update 3/31/15: Firehouse Subs no longer serves soups. :/ The chicken noodle soup was awesome...

Drifting...

Saturday, 24th of May, 2014

I've been at sea for 5 months and 14 days. 17 more days till I am reunited with my love. The one that fills me with joy just to think of. Outlaw Tiger... *happy sigh!* ^__^
(In other words, my parents hated my boyfriend and made us do six months with no contact to prove to them that we're serious about each other.) I'm so excited that the deal is almost over! My parents have gone out to eat with him and talk and get to know him. They really like him now, and they've let us call each other every once in a while and see each other on Valentine's day and my birthday and every once in a while they'll invite him along to accompany us to church or out to eat. When the deal ends, we'll be able to communicate as we please and date like a normal couple.
As my crew and I drift on the seas, I've kept to my studies and duties in hopes that time will fly by. Currently, I am relaxing on deck, enjoying a short respite and attempting to attain funds to pay for these courses. I have another week before my next session of classes begins. I wait impatiently for June 2 and June 10th. The second for my classes to begin and the tenth for the deal to be over.
Anyways, how 'bout a flashback? X) Or a few. The first time I ever tried octopus... or squid. Still not sure what it was... This was when we lived in Puerto Rico. Many many years ago.... Ok, Between 3 and 6 years ago. Whatever. We went to this beautiful restaurant on the top floor of a 3 floor building. The third floor was a restaurant. I'm not sure about the other two floors. Anyways, it was beautiful. (I'm warning you, this first flashback is pretty anti-climactic.) We got a table next to one of the floor to ceiling windows with a view of the beach. My mom ordered this plate with mixed seafood and i tried the tentacle and it was really good actually. It had a texture like chicken, literally. But it had that seafood-y taste. Good stuff. :) Can't remember the name or exact location of the restaurant, but if I ever find it, I'll let you know.
Ok, let's see... What other flashbacks do I have that are actually at least a little bit amusing?
Oh, there was this one time that I woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom... It was (literally) a dark and stormy night... Lightning illuminated the halls with every flash, and the thunder roaring across the skies shook the house like it was made of... something shaky. Anyways, my big brother woke up too, and I didn't know. He hid in the shadows of the hall, poised to scare me. I exited the bathroom and he goes, "BOO!" I screamed and slapped him. It was just a reaction. I slapped him pretty hard in the face... I have volleyball reflexes.
Lately I've gotten into making jewelery. Mostly bracelets. I call 'em... *drumroll* ... HAND LINGERIE! Here's five bracelets (five pieces of hand lingerie), two necklaces and a hair stick I've made. :)
I want to sell them and make some extra money, but I keep giving them away to friends and stuff. I'm gonna try and make more without giving them away to start selling, maybe on etsy or something. :)
Oh! And here's something cool: If you're in the Houston area, have a little bit of money to spend and have the taste buds of an explorer, there's a cool restaurant called "Underbelly". Believe it or not, they change their meal and dessert menu EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I've been there once. We ordered like three different dishes and loved them ALL. And they make their own cream soda!!! It's the stuff of dreams. Seriously. I love it. Their chef won the 2014 James Beard Foundation Award for best chef in the southwest. :D They promote not only exploring Houston food, but also Houston culture. We've got such an awesome mix of cultures and foods and things to do and places to go here. It'd take quite a while to try everything. Here's their website: http://underbellyhouston.com/

Go try something new! Explore! And take care, God bless, and all that good stuff. :D

P.S. I'll make a better paw print for my signature some time. I made that one all quick just to have something. And the background for my website too. I'll design that myself also. Till then, I hope what I have now is enough to placate your desire for aesthetic stimulation or whatever I meant to say... X)

Viva Vox Box!!!!

Friday, 23rd of May, 2014

I received, sometime within the last two months, a package called a Viva Vox Box. It's a type of Vox Box, which is a package sent to Influensters with complimentary products to test and review. For those of you who have no idea what half the things I just said are, here are some terms:

Influenster (pronunciation: in-floo-en-stur)- (noun) 1) a website where one can make an account, review products, earn badges, gain rapport and the reputation of someone knowledgeable amongst other internet users on products and services. This website also sends members, on occasion, complimentary products for testing and reviews. 2) a member of the website "influenster.com"

Vox Box (pronunciation: vox-box, rhymes with fox-socks)- (noun) 1) a package sent to Influensters (see Influenster definition 2) with products to test and review. Products in package are tailored to Influensters' profiles, badges and interests. Packages often come with names altered to coordinate with package contents, (i.e. "Viva Vox Box")

I hope I've covered everything haha. Anyways, in the Viva Vox Box I received, I got a Shell Fuel Rewards card (which I have yet to activate and use); an NCY Cityproof Lip Color in "South Ferry Berry" (referring to the color) (and it lasts FOREVERRRRRRRRR... The next day, my lips were still VERY bright red.); two Pure Ice nailpolishes, one in "After Hours" and the other in "It's Complicated" (seriously, I have no idea why makeup colors aren't just "red" or "pink" or whatever anymore....) (the polish chips quite easily also.); a can of Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturizer, Cocoa Radiant scented (smells AMAZING and works better than advertised); Montagne Jeunesse Creamy Coconut Moisturizing Face Mask (also smells AMAZING. I wanted to eat it. But the package said not to, even though all ingredients were natural...); Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths (no fragrances, love that. And it doesn't feel like I'm smearing more stuff on my face. These are awesome too.); aaaaaaaaand I think that's it. Aaaaaaaaand I hope I've covered all the products. It's great stuff. And I almost never get free stuff, so this was awesome. Here's the Viva Vox Box, me testing the lip color and the manicure I did with the nail polish. And I NEVER use pink on my nails, so that was new...

Soooooo think about it. Go to influenster.com and tell 'em Captain Polar Bear sent ya (Yes, that's how they know me there. Gals AND guys. 'Cause who DOESN'T like free stuff? :D And they have stuff for anyone and everyone to review.
Have fun, God bless, take care, and all that good stuff. :)

Hello Internet! :)

Friday, 23rd of May, 2014

Hello! I am excited to begin my first real blog. (Real in that I actually intend to keep up with this one...) And though this may not be the very beginning of my adventures, I'll catch you up on past ones from time to time. And I warn you, I do sometimes like to *embellish* haha. :D Other times, my brain might tweak a memory here and there. If I learn later that something else happened, I'll fill you in on that too.
To begin, I am Captain Polar Bear. Or you can just call me Captain. Whatever's cool haha. I am beginning this record of my travels and adventures at the ripe young age of 20. No longer a teen, however I still think like a child. Lessons learned, milestone events, exciting and/or boring adventures (depending on how tough a crowd you are...) and whatever else I feel like adding in here. I hope you enjoy and feel encouraged to go on your own adventures and try new things now and again. Keeps you young. :D At heart at least... Unfortunately, I still haven't found the fountain of youth hehe.

P.S. I slid down the stairs on a mattress two days ago. It was amazing and I recommend everyone do it at least once. Unless you are fragile. And also, make sure there's nothing at the bottom of the stairs that can break or can break you. And don't go down head first unless you have taken proper safety precautions. And ignore the last three sentences 'cause they're boring and go have fun! :D
